GIRL’S LOOK PLEASE!!!!
Hi Selcan,
Thank you for your email,
Unfortunately, the maximum number of riders to one group is 8. We are unable to accommodate for 15 riders in one group as this is unsafe and would cause crowding in the arenas.
For beginner riders, we have 2 options. Have a Go lessons which are bookable on the website, and the learn to ride 8-week course bookable over the phone or at reception. Please see further details below.
Have a Go lessons are only bookable on our website and do need to be pre booked.
30 minute Group Have a Go lesson (Sundays various times all year round, various selected weekdays during school holidays only)
£25.00 Junior weekend Have a Go (5-15 yrs)
£30.00 Adult (standard) Have a Go (16yrs +)
The hire of hats and boots is included, riders are asked to come wearing long stretchy trousers and a top or jacket that covers their shoulders.
If booked and attended regularly they are a very good way to start developing your riding skills.
More information and bookings available here- https://www.better.org.uk/leisure-centre/lee-valley/riding-centre/have-a-go-sessions
Please note that these sessions are not suitable for riders with any medical, learning or behavioural conditions, please contact us to discuss how to start riding if any of these apply to the rider.
Our weight limit for riding at our centre is strictly 76kg / 12 st, we are unable to make any allowances for riders who exceed this weight to protect the health and welfare of our animals.
Our next Learn to Ride courses are starting in September. The courses run for 8 weeks and consist of a one hour group lesson on the same day at the same time each week over 8 consecutive weeks.
The 8 weeks will cover a variety of equestrian skills both on the ground and in the saddle. The following are aspects that will be covered:-
* Collecting a horse from the stable
* Leading and handling a horse to and from arenas
* Adjusting equipment as needed, such as stirrups and girth
* Correct mounting procedure and solo mounting
* Learning basics steering, balance, control – this will include trot work at the instructors discretion
* Returning horse to stable and safely putting away tack
All of the above elements are vital to building confidence with each rider and will establish a good knowledge base to grow independent riders for the future, developing their horsemanship skills.
Prices for the courses are £256 for Junior riders (ages 7-15 yrs) and £336 for adult riders (ages 16+).
Bookings for the course are now open.
Places are secured on a first-come first-served basis and upon receipt of payment in full for the course. Individual lessons on the courses are not transferable or refundable; missed lessons cannot be rescheduled or refunded.
The learn to ride courses are for riders with little to no experience and start with learning the basics. If the rider can walk and trot independently then this course would not be for them and they would need to have a private assessment lesson to determine which level is suitable for them. These are bookable by calling us on 03000 030629. IF you are not able to get through please leave your name and number and we will return your call as soon as we can.
If you have any other questions, please let us know.
Kind Regards,
Nell
Alright hun, thank you for this update! In that case I will join the next set of sessions after these ones as I'd have to be travelling down to London for every class. It's probably easier for me to do October onwards. Enjoy girlies xx
